When you are deciding to purchase lighting for your home, chandeliers may not be a part of lighting options you have considered. Ornate, crystal chandeliers are usually the first type of chandeliers that people think of when you mention them. But these sparkling hanging lights are not the only style chandeliers available - not by a long shot.
This month the 2,500 pound chandelier that consists of 33,000 crystals was lowered from the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee for its annual cleaning. The chandelier is the centerpiece of the theatre and visitors are often more captivated by it than by whatever performance is going on at the theater. According to Sandra Wickler, one of the volunteers cleaning the chandelier who also serves as an usher, "It's amazing. When I usher here, the people who come in who have been here just go 'wow,' and they're snapping [cameras] away, and I'm like 'yes!'" Several volunteers are helping to clean the chandelier by polishing each of the 33,000 crystals by hand. Those volunteering for the two-day cleaning project each year say that they enjoy making the chandelier shine as it was intended to.
Most people mistakenly believe that there is no such thing as cheap chandeliers. On the contrary, it is actually possible to buy chandeliers at reasonable prices. This can be achieved by being informed about the materials from which chandeliers are made and by being vigilant for announcements of surplus and clearance sales at your local interior design shops and home improvement stores. Let us take a look at some of the ways by which you can purchase a high quality but cheap chandelier without breaking your bank.
If you are looking for cheaper options, you can choose to buy a used chandelier. Purchasing a used chandelier via eBay or Craigslist is not without its risks. Although there may be pictures and description of the item for sale, you need to be sure that you will indeed be getting your money's worth. Check out the seller's rating via reviews posted from buyers. More importantly, email the seller for specific inquiries that you may have.
