Vanity light fixtures come in an array of selections. One is the special light bulb, which can come in bright white or yellow and are available in neodymium or halogen varieties. Neodymium bulbs are incandescent bulbs that imitate sunlight and appear bluish in tint. Halogen bulbs spread light and bring about a gentler light and do not cast shadows. For better image reproduction that is several times more practical and inexpensive compared to regular incandescent bulbs, you can opt for compact fluorescent bulbs.
Once you've found a suitable ceiling light to access the power from, you will need to run a power line to feed the vanity light. For this you will need plenty of 14-2 wiring to run from the light source to the vanity area. Don't attach any wires to the fixture just yet. Run the power wire directly to the wall where the vanity light will be located. Drill a ¾" hole through the top plate of the wall. Now fish down enough wire to reach the vanity area behind the wall.
